What are Mandatory Comprehensive Assessments?

Apr 19, 2013 --- Mandatory Comprehensive Assessments of all Developmental Center clients are now required on an annual basis. These assessments will impact the development of community services and directly impact community placement.

The Mandatory Comprehensive Assessments are a major part of the changes coming to Developmental Centers and their residents. No matter what Regional Center you belong to, this information will apply to you and your family member!

Regional Centers are now required to perform comprehensive assessments on each DC resident who has not had one in the last 2 years. The assessments will be updated each year. Families and conservators may have input in the assessment, which will be discussed in the IPP process. These assessments are required by recent changes to the Lanterman Act, and may be used to determine community placement. They may also be used by Regional Centers to identify which services need to be developed in the community for DC residents, so that Community Placement Plan funding can be reserved.

It is vitally important for all Developmental Center families to become familiar with these changes to the Lanterman Act! Make sure that you attend the FFF meeting Sunday, May 19th at 10 am to learn more about this assessment process, what role families and conservators have, and what impact this will have on Fairview residents.
